Airhelp, Refund-me, Claim4Flights & Claim Flights Fees Comparison

Airhelp is a registered brand of the Chinese company AirHelp Ltd. Hong Kong China. Refund.me is a registered brand of refund.me GmbH. And, Claim4Flights is a non-EU-IPO registered brand.

This article was created with the best of our knowledge in Jan. 2019. We have tested the internet sites and prices with a Non-EU customer profile and chosen the price option for Non-EU tax residents.

Which is the best flight delay compensation company?

Claiming compensation for flight delays or cancellations is expensive nowadays. Many companies have changed their price model in percentage.

Thus, it has become difficult for the end user to understand how much costs arise with which provider exactly. This leads to confusion for the user to pick the best flight delay claim company.

Some claim providers even have a consecutive commission model in which customers have to pay for the service and the legal action with different percentages. With those price lists, it is hard for the user to understand the final price he has to pay.

Thus, we have taken an initiative to test 10 different flight cases with the respective claim companies and publish their price in numbers and compare.

We provided the total cost in numbers, your final compensation shows the amount you will get after deduction of all costs. This enables you to understand what you can get after deducting the other charges like the service fee, or admin fees, and VAT.

How to choose the best flight compensation company

The first thing to do before asking for compensation is to make sure that the company you choose is a registered legal firm.

A registered legal firm might bring the benefit that your claim is insured against bankruptcy, and the firm is supervised by the government.

In case of issues you can turn to the supervision authority and complain about the firm and the government helps you.

If the firm is a "claims farmer" or in an exotic destination you might get issues.

There are flight compensation companies who claim to be able to help you, but all they're really doing is getting your details, usually via a website, and then selling your case to a registered firm or to the solicitors!

There aren't many solicitor firms doing these claims.

What compensation can I get for delayed or canceled flight?

That's worth to ask now.

According to the EU Regulation 261/2004, passengers are entitled to compensation up to €600 (approximately USD $700) from the airlines for flight delays of 3+ hours, flight cancellations without prior notice, and denied boarding due to overbooked flights.

In order to be eligible for compensation, it should be the airlines' fault and not due to extraordinary circumstances such as extreme weather or "force majeure".

Sometimes it becomes difficult to ask for compensation airline owed, often it's denied or there is no response to the customer's letter or email.

So if it does not work out on your own, "Claim Companies" can help you get the money back - often even in the shortest possible time.

How does the flight compensation companies work?

Basically, all companies work on a "no win = no fee" base and you do not have to pay if they are unsuccessful. They take away the hassle, work and follow up of the claiming process.

Most of the companies ask you for a power of attorney to handle your case. This is normal, and probably the best way to represent you in court, or to the airline company. It gives the authority to the company to work on behalf of you.

Basically, all companies offer a login area or an app with which you can follow the status of your case.

Once the money is received from the airline they charge their service fee and wire the money to your account.

You should be clear about their fees, commissions, price list, and terms and conditions. Review sites like Trustpilot help you to have a clear understanding.

Airhelp, Refund Me, Claim4Flights Fees Comparison with ClaimFlights

First of all, one has to say that all the above-mentioned claim companies offer the customers fair help which is connected with a high amount of work to enforce passenger rights.

By the start of 2019, many claim service providers introduced new pricing systems, including:

  • Total cost over 50% to be represented in court (i.e., service and legal action fee)
  • Systems with the price range from 25% to over 50%
  • Administrative processing fee £25
  • Sometimes difficult to understand discount and voucher systems

Many companies advertise their charges in percentage. However, it's easier for users to work with absolute numbers.

We found that it is fairer if the users know in advance what amount they had to pay in exact, and what they will receive.

Based on EU 261 Rule, the compensation payable is in Euros, thus we have calculated the approximate receivable compensation in euros, after currency conversion from GBP (£) to EUR (€).

This research was conducted on 21st February 2019.

  • Location of the company (possible communication problems with international companies)
  • Registration of the company
  • Experience of the company with passenger claim cases

FAQ's

Is Airhelp Safe?

They are registered in China Hong Kong. We have checked the legal and claim register of the UK and Germany in Feb. 2019 but did not find any entry for them. This can cause problems for anybody who have a claim because he can not turn to a European or US legal authority to complain about the company.

As a company registered in China they do not have to follow the European or US legal requirements and rules. Customers would probably have to write in Mandarin to legal authorities to complain about them.

Who are the Airhelp alternatives?

ClaimFlights, Refund Me, ClaimCompass, Fairplane, Flightright, Skycop, etc., are its alternative, who can enforce your claim against the airline.

How much do I have to pay for engaging the ClaimFlights contract lawyers?

There are no costs for engaging the contract lawyers because Claim Flights indemnifies you of all costs. If we lose the case in court, we bear the full costs as we provide service based on 'No Win No Fee' policy.
