Alliances and Subsidiaries

Even though there has been no actual announcement made, Air Malta has been deemed on quite a few occasions as a de facto alliance member the Star Alliance group. AS it relates to subsidiaries, based on losses incurred by the airline most of them have been sold to other companies.

Code-share Agreements

Air Malta’s code-share partners include airlines such as Emirates, Austrian Airlines, Air France, Lufthansa and Aeroflot.

Major Destinations

European destinations are predominantly responsible for several of Air Malta’s flights and as such, some of the airline’s main destinations are Tunisia, Romania, Russia, France, Germany, and Israel. Air Malta also plans to roll out another 30 destinations for the 2016 calendar year.

EC Regulation 261/2004

The EC Regulation 261/2004 which was dated on the 17th of February 2005, is applicable to all passengers departing from EU airports, or from non EU airports on EU airlines, to an EU destination.

Passenger must be aware that flight delay reimbursements are subject to various terms and conditions. If the reason for delay/cancellation is due to unprecedented state of affairs under which, the delay/cancellation will be deemed inevitable. Bad weather conditions and security unrest such as fears of terrorist attacks are instances of situations in which passengers will not be compensated.

Nonetheless, according to EU norms stipulated by the Regulation passengers are entitled to compensation if delays are not due to extraordinary circumstances and are as follows: 4+ hour delay for flights of 3500km or more, 3+ hour delay for intra-community flights of 1500km or more or a 2 hour delay for a flight of 1500km or less. Passengers reserve the right to cancel their reservation and claim compensation under normal circumstances if the flight is delayed beyond 5 hours.

Delayed and cancelled flights normally follow set guidelines that are explained below.

 Compensation amount for flights of 1500km or less is 250 euros
 Compensation amount for flights of 1500 to 3500km is 400 euros
 Compensation amount for flights exceeding 3500km is 600 euros

With these stipulations in place with credit to the regulation, passengers can remain at ease, knowing that your rights are secured as it relates to delayed/cancelled flights. If passengers are unable to claim compensations from various airlines, the Claim Flights Delayed Flight Compensation Calculator can be used to measure the amount that can be claimed after providing information such as: flight number, reason for delay/cancellation and flight date. Further details about yourself and co-passengers may also be required to receive compensation.

The Department of Transportation also known as DOT has set certain air-travel rights for people who are travelling from US to EU. If you are bumped due to overbooking, delayed for 3 hours or went through flight cancellation, you have right to claim for compensation. You can use our online calculator to check how much amount you can claim for.

REVIEWS / FEEDBACK

I am totally satisfied. Outstanding work.

Carla S.

Everything was above board and I had regular communications. It put my mind at ease, although whole process did take about 4 months which was a little longer than I expected. The outcome was in my favour as promised. Well done to ClaimFlights and big thank you.

Smooth process
